Great minimalistic art, really solid and well put together

My only concern is the blue gradient shading: it looks like she's sick or afraid. Maybe that local color used for her neck would've done the trick.

Excellent composition with great attention to details, this is a really nice piece

Zhon responds:

Thanks! I recently brushed up a bit on some color theory and am trying to do better with bold flat colors. I used the blue to pair up with the pink lenses to simulate the colors of a sunset, and to put some stronger contrast between the hat and face. I see what you mean though. Truly appreciate the feedback.

You have a fun, expressive style

Pepperoni-Ravioli responds:

Damn thanks a lot, sometimes it's hard for me to figure out what defines my style, but I'm really glad you can!!

There's a bit of chest above the breasts, and at the very top of the breasts, a bit of fat before they really form.

Shading's pretty decent, keep it up

This is a good dystopian piece but it doesn't capture the helplessness and overwhelming oppression from 1984.

It's too generic to accurately portray motifs and themes from Orwell's work. 1984 heavily emphasizes a totalitarian government that quickly and strongly pushes their agenda openly and is quick to silence anyone or anything even remotely against it. Perhaps a big but indistinct crowd (to keep with the psuedo minimalism) looking up (to portray they are the lower class) at Big Brother propaganda (they are in charge, what they want to see) with only one person looking away and to the viewer. In contrast, to the sides, heavy shadows with shadowy figures watching the crowd with no telling features of they're pro or anti establishment.

Obviously, it's my personal take, but I can see that you have a strong feel for dystopian and I feel there can be a lot more done with the single character that is the focal point of your work.

HolyKonni responds:

Thank you for taking the time to write this review! You're certainly on to something there - this piece would have benefitted from some more details, for sure! I played around with some different ideas, such as making Winston much smaller, the buildings taller, and even tried to add the iconic "Big Brother is watching you" poster. In the end, this minimalist version is what I went with. :) I'm glad this painting sparked some thoughts in you, thanks for coming by and interacting with it/me.
